The Kroc Salvation Army Community Center is part of a $66 million complex, which includes a new LEED-certified facility featuring a fitness center, competition gymnasium with elevated track, swimming pools, locker rooms, climbing wall, classrooms and a performing arts and worship facility. Design challenges included multiple structural framing systems, including structural steel, load-bearing concrete masonry, and precast; floor structure load-carrying capability and vibration control at weight-lifting and aerobic areas; and, a column-free performing arts and worship area.
