The Gordon Food Service Headquarters facility is a new, state-of-the-art, LEED-certified office building which brings together 1,200 employees previously housed in multiple, separate buildings. The structure consists of two wings, two- and three-stories tall, meeting at a three-story, 50,000-SF central connector.
The building is a total precast structure, including a precast frame with hollow-core floor and roof plank, precast stair and elevator shafts, and is finished with architectural precast cladding infilled with glass curtain wall. Several structural systems and materials were initially considered, but ultimately precast was selected for its excellent vibration characteristics for the large spans and its inherent fire-resistivity characteristics.
