Willow Creek Huntley is the newest campus for the South Barrington (IL) megachurch of the same name, and is located in Dundee (IL). The new 50,000 square-foot state-of-the-art church facility includes a 1,000-seat sanctuary; main concourse area featuring a café and numerous gathering spaces and seating areas; an educational/classroom wing; and meeting rooms and private offices, among other support spaces.
The unique architectural design includes numerous irregular-shaped roofs of varying heights. An all-steel-framed structure was selected for the facility, which utilizes a steel joist system for the roof structures, employs braced frames for building lateral stability, and features two 130-foot-span, 9-foot-deep, custom steel “super” trusses that support the main, high roof structure of the sanctuary.
